A Personal Piece of Music History

At JW Frame Crafters, every project tells a story. Some speak of family, some of travel, and some connect us to moments in cultural history. This shadowbox does all three. Crafted to preserve treasured correspondence between our client’s mother and Sir James Paul McCartney in her youth, it combines deeply personal family history with the universal legacy of one of the most influential bands in the world—The Beatles.

A Collection with Heart

The collection includes a vibrant “Please Please Me” album cover, vintage telegrams, handwritten notes, and photographs that capture the era when Beatlemania was sweeping across the globe. More than collectibles, these items reflect real exchanges—proof of a unique connection that has been cherished and carefully safeguarded over the years.

By professionally framing these artifacts, our client ensured they would be protected, displayed, and enjoyed, not tucked away in boxes where they risked damage or fading with time.

Custom Framing with Purpose

For a collection this meaningful, the frame needed to balance protection, preservation, and presentation. We chose a Larson Juhl Soho Black frame, sleek and contemporary, which creates a timeless backdrop for the memorabilia. Its clean lines allow the colorful record cover and aged letters to stand out without distraction.

Multi-Opening Mat Design

To unify multiple pieces into one cohesive display, we used a custom black multi-opening mat. Each item—from letters to postcards—has its own dedicated space, carefully measured to preserve balance and visual harmony. The matting not only separates and highlights each artifact but also provides a layer of archival protection, preventing direct contact between the items.

The handwritten letters, some decades old and delicate, were encased in mylar sleeves. This ensures they remain secure while allowing every detail of the handwriting, stamp, and paper texture to be clearly visible.

The Role of Museum Glass

We finished the project with Museum Glass, the gold standard for clarity and protection. Offering 99% UV filtration, Museum Glass helps prevent fading while virtually eliminating glare. This ensures that the bold typography of the Beatles cover, the ink of the telegrams, and the subtle paper tones of the letters remain vivid for years to come.

A Shadowbox that Honors Legacy

The shadowbox design provides the depth necessary to display multiple layers of memorabilia without crowding. Each piece appears to float, creating an elegant presentation that invites the viewer to step closer, explore, and connect with the story behind the artifacts.

This framed collection is more than an assembly of Beatles history—it is a family heirloom. It honors the memories of a mother’s youth, her remarkable connection to Paul McCartney, and the timeless influence of The Beatles. Now protected and showcased, it can be shared with future generations as both a conversation piece and a tribute to music’s power to touch lives.

At JW Frame Crafters, we believe history—whether personal or cultural—deserves to be preserved with care and artistry. This shadowbox embodies that belief.
