Framed Photograph of Crocker Park - Sunrise Over Marblehead

Sunrise photograph of Marblehead harbor from Crocker Park, framed with White mat, Purple Hyacinth frame, and Ultra Vue Glass.

Preserving a Hometown Memory

Our customer wanted to honor their ties to Marblehead, Massachusetts, through a framed photograph of Crocker Park. This image captures the harbor at sunrise, a moment when the sky glows in shades of pink, lavender, and gold. Boats rest quietly on the water, waiting for the day to begin. It is a scene that combines beauty, serenity, and the character of a beloved hometown.

A View of Crocker Park

Crocker Park is one of Marblehead’s most cherished gathering spots. Overlooking the harbor, it offers sweeping views that connect generations of residents and visitors. This photograph highlights the park’s quiet stillness in the early morning hours. An American flag stands tall, trees frame the scene, and countless boats reflect the soft light of dawn. The result is an image both timeless and personal, rooted in place and memory.

Matting to Enhance the Photograph

To frame the photograph, we used Artique White matting over the original mat where the artist signed and titled the piece. This choice preserves the authenticity of the work while adding a clean, bright border. The Artique White mat draws the viewer’s eye to the colors of the sky and water, giving the composition space to breathe. By layering it above the original mat, we honored the artist’s intent while enhancing the presentation.

The Waterwoods Purple Hyacinth Frame

For the frame, we selected the Purple Hyacinth design from Larson Juhl’s Waterwoods Collection. Its rich finish brings warmth to the display and complements the sunrise tones of the photograph. The Waterwoods collection emphasizes natural beauty, and the Purple Hyacinth frame balances modern simplicity with timeless elegance. Its subtle color helps highlight the sky’s hues while anchoring the piece with structure.

Protection with Ultra Vue Glass

We fitted this piece with Tru Vue Ultra Vue Glass, offering 70% UV protection. While less protective than Museum Glass, Ultra Vue provides excellent clarity and significantly reduces glare. Its nearly invisible surface allows the viewer to appreciate every detail—the boats, the trees, and the subtle gradients of the sky—without distraction. Combined with the matting and frame, the glazing completes a professional display that both showcases and protects the photograph.

A Tribute to Marblehead’s Spirit

For the customer, this photograph of Crocker Park is more than a beautiful image. It is a personal connection to their hometown, a way to preserve the memories of growing up by the harbor. By framing it with care, we ensured that the story captured within the image remains vivid for years to come. The combination of archival matting, an elegant frame, and Ultra Vue glass transformed this photograph into an heirloom-quality display.
